how to... is an ongoing series of events which explore social interaction through the construct of workshops. They are informed and challenged by Tino Sehgal's conversation pieces and Jeremy Deller's celebration of community.
The launch of a garden bench onto Reading University's lake is the culmination of negotiations, collaborations and celebrations with experienced sailors, carpenters, university students, interested by-standers, film makers, dog walkers and residents from Lakeside Care Home which overlooks the lake.
This project evolved through regular visits to St Paul's Primary School, Reading where children are learning meditation from Mike Sarson (founder of East-West Detox, which offers holistic alternative therapies for addicts).
This series of digitally constructed posters focuses on a statue of the Madonna and Child taken out of its church context into different social geographies.
As part of a 2-year EU project, 40 refugee women travelled from partner countries (Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Wales) to Reading. As lead artist, I created a platform within which the women's journeys could be mapped, physically and metaphorically, reflecting on their strengths, recording the events in film and photography.
Cultivation was a project which invited people to cultivate food in sustainable, sometimes quirky ways. Cultivation of relationships was a by-product of the project as participants shared their experiences and skills.

Collaborating with Zimbabwean Owen Muganda, this procession through Reading was created to honour the victims of political violence in Zimbabwe in the run-up to that country's elections.
In response to the second Iraq war and to support Muslim women from Reading's diverse Newtown community (who feared prejudice from neighbours within their community), I created an ongoing project based around meditation.
