Commissioned by Creative Partnerships to collaborate with teachers and children to explore the school's cultural diversity through themes of sand, sea and sky.

Workshop 1: Sand art using cooking spices

Children created "sand art" from the tradition of Buddhism using fragrant spices used in Pakistani, Indian, Sri Lankan African and British recipes.

Workshop 2: Sailing the high seas

The children worked in teams to draw giant chalk ships on the playground and then played a game called "Ships and Sharks"

Workshop 3: Sea creatures from plastic bags

Children melted plastic bags to create colourful sea creatures and made themselves seaweed costumes from scraps of plastic bags.

Workshop 4: Making kites from recycled materials

The children made their own kites from simple materials such as supermarket bags and bamboo sticks.
